  1.                     EUnet JOINS CIX ASSOCIATION

  3.         Amsterdam,  2 April 1992.  EUnet, the  pan-European
  4.         open  systems computer network, today announced that
  5.         it has become the first operating  European  network
  6.         to join the Commercial Internet Exchange Association
  7.         (CIX).

  9.         EUnet  is   Europe's   largest   subscription-funded
  10.         network,  focusing  on  users  in  the  research and
  11.         development  community  since  1982.   Operating  in
  12.         nearly  every  country from Iceland to Russia and as
  13.         far South  as  Tunisia,  EUnet  connects  over  2500
  14.         networks  and  sites and has gateways to every major
  15.         network in Europe. EUnet services include Electronic
  16.         Mail,  Network  (USENET)  News,  and Archive access.
  17.         EUnet's InterEunet service, in operation since 1990,
  18.         provides   international  and  intercontinental  LAN
  19.         interconnection  services  based   on   the   TCP/IP
  20.         protocols  to  over 100 organisations across Europe.
  21.         EUnet is  a  service  by  and  for  the  members  of
  22.         EurOpen,  the European Forum for Open System, a not-
  23.         for-profit organisation.

  25.         The Commercial Internet Exchange  Association,  Inc.
  26.         (CIX),  was  formed  in  1991  as a non-profit trade
  27.         association to provide a non-restrictive
  28.         packet interchange for TCP/IP and OSI traffic.   The
  29.         Association actively solicits membership and network
  30.         connections with all commercial  and  non-profit  US
  31.         national,  Regional, and Mid-level networks, Federal
  32.         and state  government  networks,  and  international
  33.         network organisations.

  35.         Mitch Kapor, President of the CIX Association, said
  36.         the CIX was delighted  that  EUnet  has  joined and
  37.         that CIX will now  truly  become  an  international  network
  38.         connecting European and U.S. network subscribers.
